Advertise on the Vine
There isn’t a better way to reach the Town of
Our subscription base for the email newsletter that reminds readers about events and updates to the website is now just shy of 2,500, and from that initial emailing the Vine is forwarded to approximately 500 friends and relatives of subscribers. So, on the email alone advertisers can reach about 2,900 people. Considering there are only about 3,500 households in
The website is also growing in popularity—in our first year we’ve recorded more than 100,000 page hits, and if you place an ad on our website, your ad can appear on virtually all pages. Of course, the number of page hits has increased steadily since our first issue. In September 2010 for instance, we had over 17,600 page views.
Our advertising is a great value too, because we don’t have the production and distribution costs of traditional media, plus we can offer you slide shows, high definition photos, business profile pages, and links so you can fully describe your service, product or event. Even better, with certain advertising packages you can change your advertisement to reflect new special offers or different events.
A partial list of the types of advertising available includes:
Classified ads—small ads on the website which are also accessible from the newsletter, these ads are ideal for selling products and services. These cost $20 per month and are mixed in with offers of things for free, so that page sees many hits each month.
Banner and block ads—located on our newsletter and in multiple and rotating locations on our website, with links to almost anywhere you want. These ads will appear on almost all pages on the website, including past issues.
Profile pages—web pages made especially for you. These pages are ideal for small businesses, as they can be much more cost effective than maintaining your own website, plus these pages can contain photos and slideshows with captions, as well as text. For auto dealerships or real estate agents, a slideshow, easily updatable, is ideal. And you don’t have to worry about being ‘out of sight, out of mind’ since people are on the Vine and will notice your business presence. These profile pages are also easy to maintain.
In line with our editorial philosophy, we won’t be doing the annoying type of online ads—there won’t be pop-ups, pop-unders, or those floating ads that you can’t figure out how to close. However, if you choose to visit our 'News from Other Sources' pages, you will be subject to whatever kind of ads they use--so don't blame the Vine for what pops up. We are happy to provide these feeds as another source of information to our readers, we just want to be clear that they aren't our pop-ups! What we do offer is a menu of products that allow you to choose what type of campaign best fits your needs and your budget.
A second benefit is that the cost of producing this free newsletter is offset by your advertising, which is important to us (obviously), but which is also appreciated by all the people who depend on Community Vine to know what's happening in their town. Sponsoring the Vine with an advertisement shows that your business supports the type of positive and informative journalism that the Vine provides. We truly believe that even in this economy, working together with small businesses will be beneficial for both the Vine and those businesses. People do want to buy local and use local, they just need to be enlightened to how and where to get information, products and services!
